On the occasion of POWarts’ tenth anniversary, we are honoring the women we most admire with a conversation about their professional journeys and the women who have inspired them. Join us for an Armory Live conversation, moderated by POWarts founder Sara Kay, featuring Marianne Boesky, Founder and Director of Marianne Boesky Gallery, and Nancy Spector, Artistic Director and Jennifer and David Stockman Chief Curator at the Guggenheim Museum.

About Marianne Boesky
Marianne Boesky has more than twenty years of experience as an international contemporary art gallerist, collector, and artist advocate. She has established her eponymous gallery as one committed to ambitious and experimental work and to supporting artists at every stage of their development. Ms. Boesky has launched and nurtured the careers of such artists as Sarah Sze, Lisa Yuskavage, and Takashi Murakami, and today, her gallery's diverse roster features artists from across four continents. Among the many critically-acclaimed artists she represents are Sanford Biggers, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Diana Al-Hadid, Sue de Beer, Donald Moffett, Serge Alain Nitegeka, and the American postwar giant, Frank Stella. Over the last two years, Ms. Boesky has expanded her gallery's footprint in Chelsea, encompassing two adjacent spaces, and opened a new location in Aspen, Colorado, Boesky West. The gallery's physical growth exemplifies Ms. Boesky's innovative spirit, and has allowed her to mount every more exciting solo and group exhibitions and to engage with artists and creative producers from across a spectrum of fields. Ms. Boesky is also active in other branches of the art world: she was previously a long-time member of the selection committees for the annual Armory Show and Expo Chicago art fairs, and continues to serve on the Middlebury College Art Council, as well as the boards of the Steep Rock Residency and the Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Ms. Boesky holds BA in Art History from Middlebury College and a JD from Fordham Law School.

About Nancy Spector
Nancy Spector is Artistic Director and Jennifer and David Stockman Chief Curator at the Guggenheim Museum where she is responsible for creative programming across the Guggenheim affiliates including the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. She is currently formulating a five year exhibition calendar for New York that will include a range of canon-expanding, scholarly shows as well as experimental contemporary projects. Spector is a recipient of the Peter Norton Family Foundation Curators Award, five International Art Critics Association Awards, and a Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Award for her work on Youtube Play, a Biennial of Creative Video. In 2014, she was include in the 40 Women Over 40 to Watch list.

About Sara Kay
Prior to founding Sara Kay Gallery, Kay was Director of White Cube Gallery in London. Formerly, she served as Director of the Fine Art Department at the Jan Krugier Gallery, the exclusive agent for work by Pablo Picasso from the Marina Picasso Estate, and specialized in 19th and 20th century painting, drawing and sculpture. Previously, Kay served as a Specialist in Old Master Drawings at Christie’s auction house, leading the New York department. Sara Kay is Founder  of the Professional Organization for Women in the Arts, a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) that champions professionalism and the advancement of women in the business of fine art. She also serves on the Artemis Council at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, a group of activist female patrons that supports exhibitions by female artists to ensure their place in the art historical canon.
