Kate Werble opened her eponymous gallery in September of 2008, with two years of group shows interspersed evenly between artist-run events, dance works and performances. Eventually, the gallery took on a group of artists interested in achieving an integration between the two. Kate's focus is on developing and working with artists over a long period of time, mounting thought-provoking exhibitions of art works that take many forms, including interdisciplinary works that spans the genres of music, film, dance and performance. The majority of artists currently represented by the gallery had neither held prior solo exhibitions nor been shown in an institution. However, since the gallery's opening, gallery artists have held solo exhibitions or been included in exhibitions at institutions such as MoMA PS1, Long Island City, NY: MoMA, New York, NY; The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY: Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Paris, France; The Kitchen, New York, NY; MCA, Denver, CO; The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA; MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA; The Power Plant, Toronto, Canada; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna, AT; The Power Station, Shanghai, China; and the deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA among others.
